MP records University achievement in last motion before Parliament dissolved

The recent announcement that the University of St Andrews had taken third place in the Complete University Guide – just below Oxbridge and first place in Scotland – has been recognised in Parliament.

North East Fife MP Stephen Gethins submitted an Early Day Motion shortly before the closing date for submissions, making it the last motion of the current parliamentary session.

Mr Gethins said: “I am very pleased to be able to put the enormous achievements made by the University of St Andrews on the record in Parliament. The University is a world-leading institution with leadership of the highest calibre and teaching of an extremely high quality. This is reflected in tremendous academic achievement and student satisfaction. Being given third place in the rankings, and the top spot in Scotland, is testament to all of the hard work that goes on and shows just what a great asset the University is to this area and this deserves so much recognition.”
